This is what I tell my patients about how to use Androfeme1% cream. You may also like to read the Consumer Medicine Information.

How do I use Androfeme testosterone cream?

Androfeme is a testosterone cream.

Apply the Androfeme once daily. Best at the same time each day.

Place the end of the syringe into the tube and withdraw 0.5ml of cream.(It may help to gently squeeze the base of the Androfeme tube at the same time).

Squeeze the cream onto your outer thigh or buttock to get an idea of the amount of cream (size of the blob).

Gently rub the cream over your outer thigh or buttock for about 30 seconds.

Leave it to dry for about 5 minutes or longer if you are going to put on tight clothes.

Do not wash the area for at least 4 hours. (applying after a shower in the evening may make this easier)

Wash your hands thoroughly after applying.

Apply once daily to alternate sides.

You can use the syringe each day for the most accurate measurement or estimate based on the size of the blob of cream you have previously measured with the syringe.

What should I watch for when using the Androfeme testosterone cream?

You should watch for:

  • Hair growth where you are applying the cream which can be removed by laser shaving or waxing.
  • Deepening of your voice or acne- call and make an appointment to discuss with your doctor

When do I need to come back After starting Androfeme?

You will need a blood test 3 weeks after starting the Androfeme cream to check the level and then adjust the dose.

Once the dose is stable you will need a blood test every 6 months.

Make sure you don’t have any Androfeme cream on your arm, where you have the blood test as as this will increase the level.

When will I know how well the testosterone cream is working?

It will take a 4-8 for an improvement. It will be most effective from around 3 months after starting treatment. If you have no improvement after 6 months with testosterone levels in the normal range, then this may not be an effective treatment for you.
